ABOUT OUR CANINE BOARDING

Dog Boarding Whakatane Canine & Co
Ready for your visit?
Here are the crucial details you should be aware of:

Leashes Required: Upon exiting your vehicle, all canines must be on leads until they are handed over to Canine & Co staff, both during drop-off and pick-up. This is to ensure the safety of our roaming domestic animals.

Label Personal Items: Any personal items accompanying your canine (bedding, blankets, leads, food, toys) must be labeled. Without proper labeling, we cannot guarantee that these items won't be washed or misplaced.

Collars Mandatory: All canines staying at the kennels must wear a collar. This facilitates our staff in safely leading your animals when necessary.

Saying Goodbye: Leaving your dogs can be hard, especially when you know you’ll be apart for a long time. However, staying calm and confident is important when dropping them off.

Dogs can sense our emotions; if we act upset about leaving, it will only make them more anxious. Instead, we should say goodbye calmly and reassure them that everything will be okay.

Day Stays

Kennel day stays serve two primary purposes. Firstly, they aim to acquaint and familiarize your dog with our facilities. Whether it's your dog's initial experience at a kennel or their first visit to Canine and Co, we highly recommend a day stay prior to their boarding period. This allows them to become accustomed to the kennel environment and get to know our staff. This proactive approach ensures a smoother holiday experience for you, with minimal disruptions

Secondly, our day stays serve as a secure and enjoyable environment for your dog to spend the day, whether you have appointments, shopping, or a workday that requires you to be away. This fully secure area allows your canine companion to stay, run, and relax throughout the day. It's important to note that these day stays differ from our Social Club, as we cannot guarantee a social interaction with another dog. While we may accommodate a playmate based on behavioral assessments, it's not guaranteed. If your dog is not social or if you prefer a peaceful environment, we can provide a secure space for them to relax without interacting with other dogs.

Please respect these times and days. Our staff need a break too!

CANINE NUTRITION

We strongly believe in providing optimal nutrition for your dogs and invest extensive research in selecting the best-quality foods that are both budget-friendly and locally sourced. Our commitment to your pet's well-being goes beyond cost-cutting measures, as we refrain from feeding generic or standard recommended diets.

At Canine & Co, we adhere to a twice-daily feeding schedule, recognizing that your dog's environment here is different from their usual routine. A dry breakfast is served to set them up for a day of socializing and exploration, followed by a dinner that combines dry and wet food for a well-rounded meal.

For dry food, we exclusively use Wishbone Chicken Dog Biscuits, ensuring that even dogs with beef allergies can enjoy our offerings. In the evening, we provide a blend of dry food alongside a raw dog roll, consisting of 50% boneless beef and lamb, and 50% offal mix (Tripe, Liver, Tongue, Heart, Kidney). This is pure New Zealand meat—free from nasties, with no added junk, and high in fat rather than sugar. This ensures your canine feels satiated for longer without the excessive sugar load. Your pet's nutritional needs are a top priority at Canine & Co.

Moreover, we incorporate ROAR Pet Food into our offerings. ROAR is dedicated to providing dog food with human-grade ingredients. Each bowl of ROAR is packed with the best human-grade ingredients, sourced from suppliers who deliver only quality pure, raw meat. With a range of carefully handcrafted mixes, ROAR offers unique benefits to your pet, from omega-3, 6 & 9 for joint strength and a healthy, glossy coat, to nutrient-dense formulas for increased vitality, high antioxidants for a robust immune system, protein-rich options for improved muscle definition, and balanced nutrition for optimal dental health.

Alternatively, if your dog follows a specific diet, feel free to bring along their food. It's important that all food items are labeled with your dog's name, and their feeding requirements are clearly explained. Additionally, include a measuring device for the food to avoid any assumptions and to ensure that we maintain their diet exactly as specified. Please note there is no change in boarding cost if you are supplying your canine's food.

Ensuring the well-being and safety of all our guests at Canine & Co is our top priority. As part of our commitment to maintaining a healthy environment, we require dogs to have up-to-date vaccinations for Distemper, Parvovirus, and Hepatitis. Additionally, coverage for Canine Cough, protecting against Adenovirus Type 2, Parainfluenza virus, and Bordetella Bronchiseptica, is mandatory. Please consult with your veterinarian to verify that your pet has received all the necessary vaccinations.

While the leptospirosis vaccine is not mandatory, we recommend it for the overall health of your pet. We encourage open communication with your vet to discuss vaccination options, prioritizing the well-being and safety of every furry guest at Canine & Co.

Unvaccinated Canines

We also believe in providing choice when it comes to vaccinating your animals. As a result, we offer an Outdoor Kennel specifically designed to accommodate a family of unvaccinated dogs at a time. To secure this kennel, it is essential to book in advance, as it tends to fill up quickly. Situated away from the main kennel area, this dedicated space ensures that unvaccinated dogs have their own outdoor run and are segregated from other canines at all times.

Please note that this kennel is exclusive to one family of dogs per booking date, emphasizing our commitment to individualized care. To avoid any disappointment, we strongly recommend booking in advance to secure this unique space for your unvaccinated dogs.
